COLLEM: Collem Police have registered a case in connection with a hit-and-run accident reported at Anmod Ghat.
As per Collem PS Crime No. 04/2026, an offence has been registered under Sections 281 and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 and Sections 134(a) and (b) of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, based on a state complaint filed by HC 4732 Dasharath Gawas of Collem Police Station.
Police stated that the incident occurred on 14/02/2026 at around 14:40 hrs. An unknown driver of an Indica car was allegedly driving in a rash and negligent manner, endangering human life, while proceeding from Anmod towards Mollem. Upon reaching Anmod Ghat–Mollem stretch, the car reportedly swerved to the wrong side and dashed against an oncoming Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle travelling towards Anmod–Karnataka.
The motorcyclist, identified as Naresh Rayappa Gaonkar, a resident of Joida, Karnataka, sustained grievous injuries to his right foot and ankle in the accident.
Following the collision, the driver of the Indica car allegedly fled the scene, abandoning the injured rider.
Further investigation is being carried out by HC 4732 Dasharath Gawas of Collem Police Station.
