VASCO: A half-loaded barge “Rio Martina 3” sank in the deep sea in the outer anchorage of the Mormugao Port Authority on Monday evening.
The barge had eight crew members on board and was being loaded with cargo from a ship but faced issues due to strong winds.
Sources said that all the eight crew members on board were saved by other barges in the vicinity.
“The barge probably faced issues due to strong winds and heavy currents and could have developed engine problems. The crew members have been saved as of now but the barge with half loaded cargo has sunk in the sea,” said the source.
