PANAJI: The YMCA All Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, held at the Indoor Stadium in Campal, Panaji, saw an exciting turn of events as young Peddem-based upcoming paddler Rishan Shaikh upset Arvind Kumar, Goa’s top seed from the previous season, to set up a highly anticipated title clash in Men’s singles with Anshuman Agarwal, a former National medalist.
Rishan Shaikh, who had previously reached the finals in the Boys U15 category, showcased his talent, temperament and determination. His victory over Arvind Kumar, a seasoned player, has set the stage for an electrifying final where he will vie for a double crown.
The tournament also witnessed commendable performances from Noel Estibeiro, Reagan Pinto, Vaidik Srivastava, Chandan Caro, Niraj Kannure, Kewal Tamhankar, and Pranav Naik in the pre-quarterfinals. Unfortunately, top seed Aaron Farias had to give a walkover due to health issues. The final match between Anshuman Agarwal and Rishan Shaikh promises to be a thrilling encounter and will be played on Sunday afternoon session at Campal.
