VASCO: Alister C. D’Sa, a native of Vasco and former general secretary of MES College, is among the Goan candidates who will be contesting the upcoming council elections in the United Kingdom on the Conservative Party ticket led by former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
D’Sa will be contesting from the Hounslow West ward in the London Borough of Hounslow, marking a significant moment for the Goan community, particularly for Vasco, which he hails from.
His candidature has drawn attention within the Goan community in the UK, with many viewing it as a moment of pride for Goa, particularly Vasco.
Known for his student leadership during his days at MES College, D’Sa later moved to the UK and has remained actively involved in community initiatives.
Along with D’Sa, Vivek Ganachari from Colva, Goa, and Parinoor Kaur are also contesting the elections on the Conservative Party banner. The presence of multiple candidates of Goan origin in the fray has generated interest among the Goan diaspora in the UK, with the Hounslow West polls being keenly watched by the community.
