PANAJI: Aam Aadmi Party Porvorim Assembly in charge Ritesh Chodankar has alleged that the Socorro Panchayat has refused to furnish a Panchayat Hall for AAP’s program on the advice of former Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte.
While addressing the media on Friday Chodankar said, “I had inquired about the hall seven days prior to the event and the hall was available. I was given an agreement. However, when I went to pay the amount, they denied the permit stating the hall was reserved for Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte’s event”.
He said, “When I get to know that the hall is reserved for Khaunte’s event, I asked the secretary to return the agreement. The secretary of the Panchayat refused to do so and has ordered a Panchayat staff to tear it up. I have a recording of the incident. When I attempted to discuss the matter with Sarpanch by phone, she did not answer”.
“When we went to check the next day, no events were taking place in the Panchayat Hall. This indicates that this was done on the instructions of former Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte. This is how local MLA is misusing his power and this should stop”, he added.
He further said, “AAP has issued a notice to the secretary of Directorate of Panchayats and Goa state election commission to initiate the inquiry against such action by the Socorro Panchayat”.
