MANDREM: Mandrem Police registered an offence against the owners and the General Manager of Riva Beach Resort, Mandrem, following a complaint filed by Kedar A. Naik, Director of Tourism, Government of Goa.
According to the complaint, between 17 November 2025 and 2 December 2025, the resort allegedly erected an illegal stage setup for a beach wedding on government land—specifically the public beach area—without obtaining mandatory permission from the Department of Tourism.
Despite the competent authority issuing show-cause notices on 19 November and 21 November, the accused reportedly failed to attend scheduled hearings on 2 December and 5 December.
Authorities further stated that on 2 December, the resort began preparing yet another stage for another wedding event, which was immediately stopped by Tourist Wardens with assistance from personnel of the Tourist Police Unit.
The alleged actions amount to repeated violations of the Goa Tourist Places (Protection and Maintenance) Act, 2001, and defiance of directives issued by the competent authority.
The offence was formally registered at 20:23 hrs on 6 December 2025, and PSI Laximan Dessai of Mandrem Police Station is conducting further investigation.
