New Delhi: Rivaba Jadeja, wife of India all rounder Ravindra Jadeja and a minister in the Gujarat government, has stirred a controversy with comments she made about the conduct of Indian cricketers during overseas tours. In a video circulating online, she praised her husband for maintaining discipline while travelling abroad for matches in places such as London, Dubai and Australia, saying he has never indulged in any kind of vice and has always understood his responsibilities.
In the same address, she claimed that several other Indian players engage in “wrong activities” when they are abroad, although she did not name anyone. The remark quickly drew widespread reactions on social media, with many questioning the implications of such a statement and the absence of specific details.
Rivaba also said that her husband could have easily fallen into similar behaviour if he wished to, but chose not to because he is aware of the expectations placed on him. The comments have since become a major talking point online. There has been no response from the cricket board or any player mentioned indirectly in her remarks.
