SANCOALE: Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) Chairman and Curtorim MLA Alex Reginald Lourenco on Tuesday morning formally launched the road carpeting works at the Sancoale Industrial Estate.
Addressing the media in the presence of Sancoale IDC President Shashidaran Nair and other officials, Lourenco said the project, estimated at ₹7 crore, was much-needed and long overdue.
“When I first became GIDC Chairman, members of the Sancoale Industrial Association had approached me with a number of grievances regarding infrastructure. They were very upset, and I had assured them that their issues would be resolved,” said Lourenco.
He added that although it took time, the road works have finally been taken up. “I have instructed the contractor to ensure high-quality execution. This hotmixing project must withstand heavy traffic—ideally for ten years under normal conditions and at least five years within the industrial estate due to the movement of heavy vehicles,” he said.
Lourenco assured that the project would meet the expectations of the industrial estate’s stakeholders and added that more projects were in the pipeline to address their concerns. “We aim to transform the Sancoale Industrial Estate into one of the best in the state,” he said.
