Panaji: Cristiano Ronaldo’s involvement in Al-Nassr’s AFC Champions League 2 fixture against FC Goa remains uncertain, with club officials yet to confirm whether the star forward will travel to India for the October 22 match.
Al-Nassr representatives visited Goa earlier this week to review stadiums and other facilities as part of preparations for the high-profile fixture. While the club is finalising arrangements, there has been no official confirmation on Ronaldo’s attendance, leaving fans and organisers in suspense.
FC Goa head coach Manolo Marquez expressed excitement at the prospect of facing Al-Nassr, highlighting the quality of their squad. He pointed out that the Saudi club boasts star players including Cristiano Ronaldo, João Félix, Sadio Mané, Kingsley Coman, Inigo Martínez, and Marcelo Brozović.
Goa police have assured that comprehensive security arrangements are in place irrespective of Ronaldo’s travel plans. Authorities are awaiting an official confirmation from the club but have stated that security logistics will not be affected by his participation.
Al-Nassr has carefully managed Ronaldo’s playing time this season, with the forward appearing in roughly 75 percent of matches. This strategy is intended to maintain his fitness and performance levels while balancing commitments with the Portugal national team.
As the fixture date approaches, anticipation is building among fans, officials, and football enthusiasts across India and beyond. Confirmation of Ronaldo’s presence would add to the excitement surrounding what is expected to be a historic encounter in Goa.
