PANAJI: Two roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) ferries commissioned by the River Navigation Department (RND) have commenced trial operations on the Zuari River, signaling progress toward strengthening riverine transport connectivity in Goa.
These vessels are part of an initiative aimed at easing vehicular congestion on roads by offering an alternative mode of transport across the river. Currently in the final stages of testing, the ferries are undergoing technical fine-tuning to ensure readiness for public service.
Once operational, the RoRo service is expected to facilitate smoother movement of vehicles and passengers across the Zuari, helping to reduce pressure on existing road infrastructure and enhancing regional mobility.
