Panaji: Rosary College of Commerce & Arts emerged champions of the Inter Collegiate Women’s Hockey Championship 2025 to 26 after a hard fought campaign that concluded on February 17 at the Hockey Turf, Dayanand Bandodkar Krida Sankool. The two day tournament was organised by Goa University and featured five participating teams.
In a closely contested final, Rosary College edged past Don Bosco College with a narrow 1 to 0 win to lift the championship trophy. The decisive goal ensured a memorable finish for the Navelim based side after consistent performances throughout the tournament.
Earlier in the semifinals, Rosary College secured a convincing 2 to 0 victory over St. Xavier’s College to book their place in the final. Don Bosco College advanced after registering a dominant 7 to 0 win against St. Joseph Vaz College.
A standout performer for the champions was Ms Shaundelle Gomes, who was honoured with the Best Player award in the women’s category for her impressive contribution on the field.
The presentation ceremony was attended by Vivek Pawar, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, along with Captain Dr Sam Braganza, Director of Physical Education and Sports at Government College Pernem, and Balachandra B Jadar, Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports at Goa University. The dignitaries presented medals and trophies to the winners and runners up teams.
The Rosary College squad comprised Velanky Adlene Dias, Jovinia D’Silva, Catrina Gomes, Ria Pinto, Shaundelle Shameika Gomes, Swellen Mercia Fernandes, Ria Rajesh, Vinoshka Simren Fernandes, Riya Stecy Pereira, Aaliyah Dhosy Pereira, Mercia Franska Tavares, Fatima Braganza, Theresa Megan Peixoto, Sirijana Prakash Thapa, Clea Moraes, Kismat Chauhan, Shruti Karigar and Mamta Kumari.
