Margao: The Alcon GSB Unity Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament witnessed thrilling matches on Sunday as Madgaon Royals and CD Margao Mega Strikers claimed impressive victories. The tournament, organized by the Goa GSB Sports and Charitable Trust in collaboration with Goa Saraswat Samaj, is being held at the MCC Ground in Margao.
CD Margao Mega Strikers secured a dominant six-wicket win over Laziz CQS in a one-sided encounter. Laziz CQS were bowled out for 111 runs in 19.2 overs, with Sandeep Dalal stealing the show by taking five wickets for just 32 runs. In reply, the Mega Strikers chased down the target comfortably in just 12 overs, scoring 112 for the loss of four wickets. Sandeep Dalal’s brilliant performance earned him the Player of the Match award.
Meanwhile, Madgaon Royals emerged victorious in a nail-biting clash against Rising Stars of Antruz. Batting first, the Royals posted a challenging total of 184/9 in 20 overs, thanks to contributions from Granthik Buyao (39 not out), Arsh Sardesai (38), and Vikram Gaitonde (26). Rising Stars fought valiantly but fell short by 17 runs, managing 167/7 in their 20 overs. Vikram Gaitonde’s all-round effort of 26 runs and two crucial wickets earned him the Player of the Match accolade.
After six matches in the tournament, CD Margao Mega Strikers and Madgaon Royals are tied at the top of the table with two wins each, accumulating four points apiece. However, the Mega Strikers lead the standings with a superior net run rate, while Rising Stars of Antruz and Sinq Rangers UC remain at the bottom.
