PANAJI: Rajya Sabha MP and State President of BJP Goa Sadanand Shet Tanavade Highlighted the Urgent Need for a Halt of Ernakulam-Pune Express (Train No. 22149/22150) at Thivim Station, in the Parliament during the Zero Hours.
During the Zero hours Tanavade highlighted that despite repeated requests since 2015, no action has been taken to include a halt at Thivim Station in North Goa District. Currently, this train halts only at Madgaon in the South Goa District, forcing North Goa commuters to travel to Madgaon or opt for costly transport alternatives.
The Rajya Sabha MP further stated that the lack of direct rail service from North Goa to Pune results in significant inconvenience and increased travel time for thousands of passengers from North Goa and also raises costs, particularly during peak seasons, adding to the burden on students, professionals, tourists and other passengers.
Tanavade urged the Minister of Railways to consider that adding a halt at Thivim Station would greatly benefit the North Goa District by improving accessibility and reducing travel expenses. It would also lessen the strain on tourists and business travellers who currently face logistical challenges.
Tanavade requested the inclusion of Thivim Station as a halt for the Ernakulam-Pune Express.
