CANACONA: For the first time the Rath Yatra of Shri Dev Rudreshwar, one of the Hindu Jagruth deities worshiped by lakhs of Goan brought to Canacona on 18th January, 2025. It is believed that the devotees of Shri Dev Rudreshwar in Canacona got a lifetime opportunity to seek the blessing of the Lord.
Many programmes were planned and held on this occasion and all devotees cutting across all caste, creeds, and faith came in large numbers to seek blessings of Shri Dev Rudreshwar. Thousands of people from Canacona participated in Rath Yatra as they got this once in a lifetime opportunity to seek blessings of Dev Rudreshwar at their doorstep.
The Dev Rudreshwar Rath Yatra started from Karmal-Ghat @ Shree Ganapati Devasthan, the Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar and on behalf of Shri Rudreshwar Dev Rath Yatra Samiti Canacona Janardhan Bhandari welcomed the Yatra and performed pooja.
At Chawdi, CMC Chairperson Sara Naik Desai, welcomed the Rath Yatra along with other Councillors, Sarpanch/Panchas of various Village Panchayats in Canacona.
Then the RathYatra halted at Gopal-Krishna Devasthan, Mokhard for Darshan, Pooja and Prasad, before proceeding to Partagal where devotees of Partagal sought the blessing of Dev Rudreshwar. The Yatra then made brief halts at Khavat, at Karpanas for devotees of Galiem and at Painguinim Market for devotees of Painguinim, Maika & Kalshi. Then Dev Rudreshwar Rath Yatra stopped at Gopalkrishna Devasthan-Agas to facilitate devotees of Loliem Village to seek the blessing of Dev Rudreshwar.
After the Rath Yatra halted at Government Primary School, Polem for the devotees of Shelim and Polem Villagers, proceeded further towards Kolsar and stopped at Galjibag, Kolsar for Devotees of Kolsar, Galgibag and Talpan. Then further the Rath Yatra of Dev Rudreshwar halted at Muthal for devotees of Muthal and Sadolxem. The Rath Yatra went ahead and took a halt at Ghodkamale, Pasal for devotees of Natangini and Ghodkamale and Pasal, respectively.
Ending the day Rath Yatra made halts at Gopalkrishna Devasthan, Mokhard.
Pooja was operformed when Dev Rudreshwar Rath Yatra reached Gopalkrishna Devasthan, Shri. Janardhan Bhandari and Smt. Bhavana Bhandari and Mahaprasad were arranged for all the devotees.
Then Shri Dev Rudreshwar Rath Yatra Samiti falicitated members of main committee of Rath Yatra, Devasthan Committee of Dev Rudreshwar, Harvale and notable among them were Dayanand Mandrekar, Kiran Kandolkar, Jayesh Salgaonkar, Mahadev Naik, Shyam Satardekar, & Shree Rudreshwar Devasthan Committee Members Yashwant Madkar. Subhash Kinalkar, Sangesh Kundaikar At the end “Swar Rudresh”, a musical show of sugam sangeet was performed on this occasion.
On next day (19th January, 2025) after performing Joint Pooja of Dev Rudreshwar at Gopalkrishna Devasthan, Mokhard, took the procession ahead and handed over the Rath Yatra to Shri Rudreshwar Dev Rath Yatra Samiti, Quepem at Karmal Ghat.
Thousands of people took the opportunity to seek the blessing of Dev Rudreshwar during the entire period of Rath Yatra in Canacona, with devotees of each village on the route of the Rath Yatra spontaneously garlanded the Rath Yatra with “TORAN”, at Palolem, Canacona, Loliem, Polem, Paiguinim, Talpona welcomed the Dev Rudreshwar Rath Yatra with “TORAN”. Literally Tandav of Dev Rudreshwar’s Devotees was observed during the Rath Yatra of Dev Rudreshwar in Canacona.
