Mangeshi: Young table tennis sensation Ruhaan Shaikh is on the brink of a remarkable double triumph at the 7th Mangeshi All Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, having entered both the U13 and U15 Boys finals with commanding performances. The tournament, hosted at V.D. & S.V. Wagle High School, is being held as part of the school’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations and is organised by the Mangirish Vidyadayini Samstha in association with the Wagle High School Diamond Jubilee Celebration Committee, under the aegis of the Goa Table Tennis Association.
In the U13 category, top seed Ruhaan secured his place in the final after a convincing 3-1 semifinal victory over Vedant Wagle. He will now face second seed Yug Prabhu, who cruised past Yuvaan Sanke in straight games (3-0). Earlier in the quarterfinals, Ruhaan had blanked Ashank Dalvi 3-0, Vedant defeated Aarish Shaikh 3-0, Yuvaan edged past Ishaan Colaso in a tight 3-2 battle, and Yug overcame Noel Kurian 3-0.
Ruhaan’s path to the U15 final was equally impressive. Seeded third, he pulled off a thrilling 3-2 upset over second seed Dhruva Kamat in the semifinal. He will now face top seed Chandan Caro, who powered past Vedant Wagle 3-0 in his semifinal clash. In the earlier rounds, Ruhaan beat Yug Prabhu 3-1, Chandan defeated Ishaan Colaso 3-0, Vedant overcame Vivaan Prabhudesai 3-1, and Dhruva registered a 3-0 win over Aayush Sahakari.
With two finals ahead, Ruhaan stands poised to make a major mark in the Goan table tennis circuit, combining technique and tenacity across age categories.
