Chandor: Top seed Chandan Caro, along with promising youngsters Ruhaan Shaikh and Yug Prabhu, have booked their spots in the finals of the Under-15 Boys category at the 5th Naguesh and Sushila Verenkar Memorial All Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, being held at the Chandor Multipurpose Hall. The prestigious event is being hosted by Chandor Club under the aegis of the Goa Table Tennis Association.
National ranking gold medallist Chandan Caro lived up to his top billing, overcoming a spirited challenge from national bronze medallist Yug Prabhu in a high-octane semifinal clash, winning 3-1. In the other semifinal, Ruhaan Shaikh continued his impressive run, displaying composure and precision in a 3-1 win over Dhruva Kamat.
Earlier in the quarterfinals, Chandan had cruised past Bhaavan Srivastava with a commanding 3-0 win. Yug battled through a tense five-game encounter to edge out Vedant Wagle, while Ruhaan ousted Chinmay Bakhare 3-1 in a confident performance.
In the U13 Boys category, Ruhaan Shaikh continued his fine form, defeating Ishaan Colaso in straight games (3-0) in the semifinal. Yug Prabhu also displayed admirable resilience, coming from behind to beat Vedant Wagle 3-1 and secure a place in the final.
Both Ruhaan and Yug had breezed through their quarterfinal matches earlier — Ruhaan defeating Noel Kurian and Yug overcoming Ashank Dalvi, both in straight sets.
With all three players showing top form, the finals promise to deliver thrilling table tennis action as Goa’s finest young talents compete for top honours.
