PANAJI: A female Russian DJ who has been performing at parties in Goa for more than ten years was caught in possession of marijuana valued at Rs 16 lakh and the date-rape medication Gamma Hydroxy Butyrate (GHB).
The DJ was hauled up from a leased room in Keri, according to Tikam Singh Verma, SP of the Goa Police Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC), which made the arrest.
“A Kerala youth was nabbed with drugs valued at Rs 1 crore three weeks ago after the ANC busted a pan-India network of LSD papers. We learned from him that there was a chance of locating GHB drugs in Goa. We focused on the Russian DJ who used to perform at tiny parties in Goa after turning on our surveillance network,” he claimed.
About 300 grams of GHB and more than 30 grams of marijuana, or ganja, were discovered at her home by the ANC officers during the raid. According to the SP, she has been held in police custody on remand for two days.
Since 2013, the accused has been traveling to Goa on a tourist visa. She is currently staying at a property where proper tenant verification was completed. Verma continued, “We are attempting to ascertain where she was lodging earlier.”
