MOPA: Mopa Airport Police have registered an offence against a Russian national for carrying a prohibited Iridium satellite communication device at Manohar International Airport, Mopa.
According to police, the case (Cr. No. 49/2025) was registered at 3:43 a.m. under Section 3 read with Section 6(1A) of the Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act, 1933, based on a complaint filed by SI Upendra Singh of CISF ASG Unit, Mopa Airport.
The accused, identified as Dmitry Kazakov (45), a resident of Delegatskaya Street, Moscow, was scheduled to fly to Doha on Qatar Airways Flight QR 523 (Seat 2A) when CISF personnel detected the Iridium satellite device during baggage screening at around 12:35 a.m.
As the device is prohibited in India and the accused failed to produce a valid licence or authorization, he was summoned under Section 35(3) of the BNSS. The case has been charge-sheeted (C/S No. 40/2025) and is pending trial before JMFC Pernem.
