CANACONA: A 68-year-old resident of Sadolxem, Basil Coutinho, succumbed to 80% burn injuries after reportedly dousing himself with petrol and setting himself on fire at his home.
According to police sources, Basil, an ex-employee of the Electricity Department, had been struggling with health issues and worsening depression in recent days. The incident occurred when no one else was at the house. The fire spread rapidly, causing extensive damage to household items.
Authorities confirmed that the body has been preserved and the funeral is scheduled for Monday. Police are investigating the incident.
