Panaji: The proposal for the display and sale of Goan Cashew Feni at duty-free shops in airports, including those in Goa, Mumbai, Delhi, and other metropolitan cities, is currently pending necessary clearances from Customs and Central Excise authorities.
In response to an unstarred Legislative Assembly Question tabled by MLA Deviya Rane, Chief Minister and Civil Aviation Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant stated that the proposal has been forwarded to the Excise Department, which has jurisdiction over the matter.
He further added that the Directorate of Civil Aviation is willing to facilitate the sale of Goan Cashew Feni at the Manohar International Airport once the required permissions are obtained by the concerned parties.
As of now, no such clearance has been granted, and the proposal remains under review. The move is part of broader efforts to promote Goan heritage and local products through premium retail platforms..
