SALIGAO: The Village Panchayat of Saligao has raised objections to the proposed creation of a buffer zone opposite the Saligao Seminary for the Waste Management Plant operated by the Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC).
In a letter dated September 1, 2025, addressed to the Managing Director of GWMC, the Panchayat stated that an objection was filed by local resident Evaristo B. F. Fernandes, of Mudda Vaddo, Saligao. The matter was taken up during the Panchayat’s fortnightly meeting held on August 25, 2025, and vide Resolution No. 10(4), the Panchayat body resolved to support the objection.
The communication, signed by Sarpanch Lucas A. Dos Remedios, informed the Corporation that the Panchayat is in favour of the objection and has forwarded the matter to the relevant authorities for necessary action.
Copies of the letter have also been sent to the Communidade of Saligao and to Saligao MLA Kedar Naik for information.
