VASCO: Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar on Thursday inspected landslide-prone areas along the four lane port connectivity highway at Gandhinagar along with officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and project consultants to review safety measures and assess the need for preventive works.
During the visit, Salkar emphasised that public safety must remain the foremost priority and instructed officials to immediately take up slope stabilization and drainage improvement works in vulnerable zones.
“The safety of our citizens is our top priority. I have directed officials to ensure that slope stabilization and drainage works are carried out on war footing to prevent any mishaps, especially during heavy rains,” said Salkar.
He also suggested that, beyond the technical measures, the beautification of these locations could further enhance the appearance of the area.
“Once the safety works are completed, we must also look at improving the aesthetics of these spaces. A well-planned and well-maintained area not only ensures safety but also adds to Vasco’s overall appeal,” Salkar added.
