Panaji: The Adarsh Sports Club successfully hosted the seventh edition of its Annual Cricket Tournament in Mormugao, continuing a sporting tradition that has become a prominent feature of the local cricket calendar. The event brought together players, organisers and supporters in a celebration of competitive spirit and community engagement.
This year’s tournament featured three teams, Adarsh Sports, Delta Ports and Sambhaji Warriors 2026. Over the years, the competition has served as a valuable platform for emerging cricketers from the Mormugao region, encouraging sportsmanship and nurturing grassroots talent.
The final witnessed a dominant performance from Sambhaji Warriors 2026. Batting first, Delta Ports managed 56 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted eight overs. In response, Sambhaji Warriors chased down the modest target in just 6.2 overs to seal the championship in convincing fashion.
Individual performances were also recognised at the closing ceremony. Sangu was named Man of the Match for his decisive contribution in the final. Sachin Mesta earned the Best Bowler award, while Kishan was adjudged Best Batsman. Sameer Dhuri was honoured as Player of the Tournament for his consistent displays throughout the competition.
The event was attended by chief guests PI Damodar Naik, Gajanan Naik, Tulashidas Narvekar, Sanjay Naik and Sanjay Manjrekar, whose presence added prestige to the occasion and inspired participants.
A special felicitation ceremony was held to honour promising women cricketers from Mormugao who have represented Goa in the Under 19 Girls and Under 23 Senior categories. Pooja Ajay Singh Yadav, Harshada Kadam and Aradhana Saroj were recognised for their achievements and dedication to the sport.
The tournament concluded with a vote of thanks from organiser Raghoba Kotkar, who expressed gratitude to guests, sponsors, players and supporters for contributing to another successful edition.
