Margoa: All Goa Sand extractor, transporters and all dependents on sand mining held meeting at Powerhouse circle, Margao on Friday demanding restart of sand mining immodestly.
Subhash Raul, sand extractor from Betki said that they are fully dependent on sand mining and now suddenly the government has suddenly stopped their business.
“We appeal to government to restart the sand mining business. We are ready to pay the royalty and government should issue us licence immediately,” he said.
Prashant Naik another sand transporter said that government has stopped Goan sand and the same government is allowing sand from Kudal, Maharashtra and other States.
“Our vehicles are stopped by RTO, traffic police and the same authorities allow the vehicle from Maharashtra. This is injustice on Goans and demand to start the same as they are fully dependent on sand mining,” he said.
Morinho Rebello said that government has stopped all construction material putting people to hardships.
“One side CM says he is focusing on Swyampurna Goa and one side stopping the sand extraction business and promoting sand from Maharashtra. How can the vehicles from Maharashtra be allowed to pass. Are the authorities sleeping,” questioned Morinho.
He said that the government is collecting GST on sand sale and calls the same business illegal.
