MARGAO: Santa Cruz Society Poitomado Cuncolim defeated Fr. Agnelo YSC Paroda 6-5 via the tiebreaker to emerge champions in the 13th OL of Fatima soccer cup organized by Dicarpale Sports Club and played at Dicaraple football ground.
Livon Clement gave an early lead to Fr. Agnelo YSC Paroda in the 5th minute. Viraj Velip equalized for Santa Cruz Society Poitomado with a pass from Daulat Dessai in the 15th minute.
In the ensuing tiebreaker – Viraj Velip, Mathew Fernandes, Bradley Carvalho, Ravesh Velip and Ansh Patel scored for Santa Cruz Society Poitomado while Melroy Fernandes, Kanchan Kiro, Omkar Gaonkar and Reagan Costa shot at the target for Fr. Agnelo YSC.
Dr Caetano Fernandes was the chief guest and handed over the prizes in the presence of Fr. Joaquim Fernandes – Parish Priest Dicarpale, Cruz Silva – MLA of Velim, Manoj Dukle, Vallabh Varak, Bonifacio Carvalho, Anthony Pango- GFA Vice president and Cosme Oliveira. Vincent Carvalho welcomed, proposed a Vote of thanks and compared the function.
Individual prizes: First scorer of the final- Livon Clement (Fr. Agnelo YSC), Best goalkeeper of the final- Hrishikesh Gaonkar (Santa Cruz Society Poitomado), best midfielder of the final- Bradley Carvalho (Santa Cruz Society Poitomado), best player of the tournament- Melson Fernandes (Fr. Agnelo YSC), best defender of the final- Shankar Gaonkar (Santa Cruz Society Poitomado), Best discipline team- United Club of Seraulim.
