PANAJI: Sao Jose de Areal emerged as champions of the 1st All 3-a-Side Junior Football Tournament, edging out hosts Black Arrow Boys Agxem Curtorim 3-2 in a dramatic tiebreaker during the final held at Four Junction Ground, Agxem Curtorim. The tournament, organized by Black Arrow Boys, saw participation from 16 teams across Goa and highlighted the growing enthusiasm for grassroots football in the state.
The final match was a closely contested battle, with both teams showing tremendous skill and determination. Ultimately, Sao Jose de Areal held their nerve in the shootout to secure the title. Elner of Sao Jose de Areal, who played a crucial role in the final, was awarded the Man of the Match.
In addition to team accolades, several individual players were recognized for their outstanding performances. Gladson Rocha (RA United) scored the first goal of the tournament, while Ashler (Black Arrow Boys) was named Best Defender. Macklan (RA United) won Best Finisher, and Vallen (RA United) was awarded Best Sensible Player. Royson (Thunder Strike FC) took home Best Passing Player, and Elner (Sao Jose de Areal) was also recognized as the Best Skillful Player. Sonal (Sao Jose de Areal) emerged as the tournament’s Highest Scorer, Asher Fernandes (Black Arrow Boys) was the Youngest Player, and Zylen Castanha (Jack of All) was named Upcoming Player of the Tournament.
The event was hailed as a success, not only for the level of competition it showcased but also for the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship it fostered among young footballers.
