PANAJI: Sao Jose de Areal lifted the 44th Gold Silver Rolling Trophy after defeating host Navelim Sporting Club 8-6 in a tense tiebreaker at Rosary Church Ground, Navelim. The finals drew a crowd of over 4,000 spectators who witnessed an exciting contest between two determined sides that ended 3-3 at full time. For Navelim SC, Travis Souza scored a brace while Noah Luis added the third goal. Sao Jose de Areal responded with a brace from Dyral Costa and a goal from Joston Fernandes. In the ensuing tiebreaker, Sao Jose de Areal proved to be superior shooters, securing the trophy.
The event was graced by Shri Luizinho Faleiro, former Chief Minister of Goa, who presented the prizes in the distinguished presence of dignitaries including Shri Ulhas Tuenkar (MLA Navelim & Charnan KTC), Rev. Fr. Gabriel Coutinho (Parish Priest, O.L. of Rosary Church), Shri Avertano Furtado (Hon. Ex-MLA Navelim), Edwin (Cipru) Cardozo (ZP Member Navelim), Paul Pereira (Sarpanch V.P. Navelim), Deputy Sarpanch, Panch members, and members of the GFA South Executive Committee.
Individual awards for outstanding performances were also presented. Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, was named the Best Discipline Team. Sachin Velip of Cuncolim won Best Save of the Tournament, while David Colaco of Areal was awarded Best Left Footer. Sweden Costa of Navelim was recognized as the Promising Player, and Aggie Antao of Areal won Best Goalkeeper. Selwin Gomes of Navelim received Best Defender, Dyral Costa of Areal was Best Midfielder, and Noah Luis of Navelim was Best Forward. Travis Souza of Navelim was named Man of the Final.
The thrilling finale highlighted exceptional skill, sportsmanship, and competitive spirit, making it a memorable chapter in the history of the Gold Silver Trophy.
