PANAJI: In a thrilling encounter at the Rosary Church ground in Navelim, Sao Jose de Areal outplayed Curtorim Gymkhana by a margin of 2-1, securing their spot in the quarterfinals of the United Trophy, a prestigious tournament organized by United Club of Telaulim. This victory highlights the competitive spirit of both teams as they vied for superiority in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
The match witnessed an early surge from Sao Jose de Areal, with Rayman Fernandes opening the scoring in the 18th minute through a skillfully executed free-kick. His teammate Aryan Endro further solidified their lead just four minutes later, ensuring that Sao Jose de Areal held a formidable position by the 22nd minute. However, Curtorim Gymkhana demonstrated resilience by pulling one back through Afileo Fernandes in the 29th minute, setting the stage for a tense second half with Sao Jose de Areal leading by a single goal.
In the second half, both teams displayed a high level of aggression, creating numerous scoring opportunities. Despite their efforts, neither team was able to find the back of the net again.
