PANAJI: The 17th day of the Goa University Inter Collegiate Cricket Championship 2025–26 witnessed two matches with Don Bosco College, Panaji and Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics, Margao registering convincing victories.
In the first match, Don Bosco College Panaji defeated Padre Conceicao College of Engineering Verna by five wickets in a well controlled chase.
After winning the toss, Don Bosco opted to bowl first and restricted the Verna side to 112 for 9 in their 20 overs. Drish Narvekar top scored with 27 runs while Namish Shirodkar added 21. For Don Bosco, Sankalp Prabhu delivered an impressive spell claiming two wickets for 13 runs, while Ajay Raj also picked up two wickets conceding just 15 runs.
In reply, Don Bosco successfully chased the target, reaching 113 for 5 in just 14 overs. Sapnish Satarkar played a match winning knock of 53 off 32 balls, while Namdev Raul contributed 25 runs. Rishit Dhargalkar was the most successful bowler for the Verna side with two wickets for 18 runs. Satarkar was named the best batter of the match, while Sankalp Prabhu earned the award for best bowler.
In the second match, Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics Margao secured a dominant 74 run victory over Government College of Arts Science and Commerce Khandola.
Batting first after winning the toss, Damodar College posted a strong total of 191 for 5 in 20 overs. Saish Hegde remained unbeaten on 40 from 27 balls, while Vismay Falgaonkar added 37. Tanish Kadekar took two wickets for the Khandola side.
Chasing a challenging target, Government College Khandola were bowled out for 117 in 15.2 overs. Saheel Parodkar scored 35 and Snehith Panicker added 28, but the effort fell short. Sharv Lotliker starred with the ball, claiming four wickets for 20 runs to lead his team to victory.
The men’s quarter finals of the tournament are scheduled for March 28, featuring matches between DM’s College Assagao and Vidya Prabodhini College Porvorim in the morning session, followed by VP’s Mandre College taking on Goa Medical College Bambolim in the afternoon.
