CANACONA: Sara Shamba Naik Dessai, is all set to be declared elected unopposed as the new Chairperson of Canacona Municipal Council.
The deadline for the nomination ends today (Wednesday) at 12. pm, all the seven ruling councillors assembled at the Canacona Municipal Council unofficially claim the ‘Win’ at the no-contest for the post of CMC Chairperson.
Two days ago, Sara, accompanied by 6 other ruling Councillors- Simon Rebello, Ramakant Naik Gaunkar, Sara Naik Dessai, Laxuman Pagui, Amita Pagi, Narcisco Fernandes and Gandesh Madganvkar, in fact, became the only councillor to file her nomination papers for the post of Chairperson which fell vacant after the group councillor Ramakant Naik Gaonkar resigned a week and half ago.
An official declaration will take place take place only on Thursday, informed a CMC source.
