PORVORIM: Directorate of Higher Education has relieved Prof.(Dr.) Filipe Rodrigues e Melo, Officiating Principal at Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College of Arts and Commerce, Pernem. Pernem, following complaints by students over disallowing Saraswati Puja in the college
Melo has been repatriated to his parent institution St. Xavier’s College Mapusa with immediate effect in public interest.
Sources says the said decision had been taken after Melo had denied students from performing Saraswati puja on campus.
Saraswati Puja had been prohibited at the Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College of Arts and Commerce. This had infuriated the students.
