CANACONA: Crediting the local elected representatives for their tireless work in garnering so many votes for BJP, Canacona Mandal president Vishal Dessai regretted the BJP’s South-Goa candidate Pallavi Dempo loss as unfortunate.
“We are really saddened that BJP’s South Goa candidate Pallavi Dempo lost by 15 thousand votes. But we are satisfied with our performance, all Councilors, most Sarpanch and many sitting and past panchayat members, besides BJP workers worked tirelessly round the clock at all the 59 booths in Canacona and gave record and maximum votes of 16318 votes and a promising lead of 7184 votes to BJP’., Vishal Dessai.
Given the past Lok Sabha (2019) debacle, it was decided to go all out to win the South Goa seat for BJP this year. But, inspite of accommodating everyone and all have tirelessly worked for the party, especially all the 12 Councilors of Canacona Municipal Council, most of the Sarpanchs and Panch members of all the six village panchayats, we could not win this seat. However, this was not sufficient to win the Lok Sabha seat and we sincerely regret this. Interestingly, if one Agonda panchayat is left out, BJP gets a substantial lead of 7222 votes in the other five panchayats and the lone municipality is combined.
Dessai, interestingly without naming anyone, thanked all the councillors and others who stood by the BJP and worked for the success of Pallavi Dempo, saying that they got the highest votes and the lead only because of their tireless hard work.
Meanwhile, Canacona MLA and GLA Speaker in a social media post expressed gratitude to the Voters of Canacona for their unwavering support and trust in BJP, stating, that the significant voting share from Canacona highlights people’s strong support for Narendra Modi.
‘I deeply appreciate the hard work and dedication of our Karyakartas, supporters, and well-wishers. Your efforts are vital as we strive towards a self-reliant and developed India and Goa. Let us continue this journey together. The achievement of garnering over 16,102 votes in our constituency, belongs to every one of you. Let’s continue to work together for a brighter future.’.
