PANAJI: Lord Ananta’s popular ‘Savoi-Verecho Sakhyahari’ Kalotsav to begin from today.
Savoi-Verem: Nestled in the green fields of horticulture is the picturesque village of Savoi-Verem, having a unique temple of Lord Ananta built inside a sacred lake. A famous week-long festival of Lord Ananta’s Sakhyahari Kalotsav will commence today.
The Festival will kick start in the evening with Lord Ananta’s palanquin paying a visit to the temples of Lord Sateri at Savoi-Verem, Lord Shantadurga at Sateri-that and Lord Narayana at Bhatola to invite the deities for Sakhyahari kalotsav. As Lord’s palanquin moves through various villages, the devotees from each town will accompany the palanquin, dancing to the tune of drums and other musical instruments. This is the annual festival celebrated in the village wherein the devotee’s dance by carrying betelnut plants in their hands, chanting ‘hari re majhya panduranga, sakhyahari mhajya panduranga’ aloud.
Lord Ananta’s palanquin, on its return journey from Bhatolem, visits every house that falls on the path and gives blessings to the family.
Lord Anant is the incarnation of Lord Vishnu and is said to have arrived in the village through a canoe. Villagers, at the Lord’s arrival, got so happy that they uprooted the plants of betel nuts, which are abundantly available in the village, and started dancing with joy.
Lakhs of devotees from Goa as well as the outside crowd to the village to seek the blessings of Lord Madananta. The festival, which will begin with Sakhyahari Kalotsav followed by Sangdotsav, will continue with the Lord seating in the chariot of Eagle, Horse, Elephant, Lion and finally on the chariot of Cobra.
