Panaji: A brief meeting between Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Goa has sparked political speculation, even as Sawant maintained that the interaction was purely non-political.
The meeting took place ahead of the 10th National Convention of the Rashtriya OBC Mahasangh at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium in Bambolim, where both leaders were present.
While Sawant described Fadnavis as a “close friend” and clarified that no political matters were discussed, the timing of the meeting amid growing national focus on OBC-related issues has raised eyebrows in political circles.
Adding to the political chatter, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was warmly welcomed upon arrival in Goa by BJP Goa State President Damu Naik.
The two leaders shared a friendly conversation and exchanged light-hearted moments, further fuelling speculation about behind-the-scenes discussions.
The national convention drew OBC representatives and leaders from across the country, underscoring the political significance of the event.
With the OBC vote base gaining momentum in national politics, the presence of top BJP leaders together in Goa is being seen by observers as more than just a coincidence.
