PANAJI: Goa Caretaker Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Friday jumped into the Kashmir Files movie controversy slamming Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for his remarks over making the film tax free.
Taking to Twitter, Sawant said Kejriwal’s statement is inhumane & and an insult to those who faced the atrocities at the hands of terrorists in Kashmir.
“While Kejriwal’s Govt waived tax for several Bollywood films in the past, he refuses to do the same on #KashmirFiles and goes a step ahead by mocking and laughing at the film, which brings to light the Kashmiri Hindu Genocide,” Sawant said.
The Goa Chief Minister has made the film tax-free and has urged citizens to watch the movie.
On Thursday, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal spoke in the Delhi Assembly taking potshots at the BJP government’s promotion of the Kashmir Files film directed by Vivek Agnihotri.
He said that ‘He earned crores in the name of Kashmiri Pandits; you are still stuck at pasting the posters’. Kejriwal said that if, after 8 years at the Centre, PM Modi and his government are promoting a movie, that means no work has been done.
He went on to call out the BJP for demanding that the film be made tax-free in the national capital.
He said, “They are saying make The Kashmir Files tax free. Well, put it on YouTube it will be free.”
The Delhi CM further added, “Why are you asking us to make it tax-free. If you are so keen, ask Vivek Agnihotri to put it on YouTube, it will all be free. Everyone will be able to see it in a day. Where is the need to make it tax-free?”
