The Supreme Court on Friday granted two weeks time to respondents in the disqualification case filed GPCC President Girish Chodankar against 10 MLAs, who jumped to BJP, last July.
Advocate Rohatgi, appearing for respondents, said that the MLAs were unable to access their official e-mails.
The case was heard by Chief Justice Sharad Bobde, Justice A.S Boppanna and Justice V. Ramasubramaniam.
Upon hearing the counsel the court allowed respondents two weeks time to file reply.
“Learned counsel pray for and is granted two weeks time to file their reply. Permission is also granted to serve the unserved respondents through email and whatsapp,” the order reads.
The Congress’ petition is concerning 10 MLAs, who quit the party to join BJP.
Speaker Rajesh Patnekar,on Thursday, in his affidavit yesterday had justified the delay in pronouncing the verdict in the disqualification petitions of both the parties against 12 MLAs by blaming it on the Covid situation in the state.
