PANAJI: Supreme Court of India has finally listed Goa’s petition challenging the Mhadei award for hearing on Wednesday.
All three States party to the Mhadei dispute — Goa, Karnataka and Maharashtra — have challenged the award of the Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribunal.
The bone of contention is mainly between Goa and Karnataka over the latter being granted a share of the coveted river’s waters.
It was adjourned couple of times in the past. Meanwhile, Goa Forward chief Vijay Sardesai has demanded an urgent meeting of House Committee on Mhadei formed in the last Assembly Session to review the situation.
“This has come after a long delay. I demand an urgent review meeting of the House Committee on Mhadei on Monday to discuss this most important issue Goa and Goemkars face today,” he said.
