PANAJI: The Mhadei River case is scheduled to be heard by the Supreme Court on Thursday, January 23.
Along with the coastal state’s contempt pleas, the three riparian states—Goa, Karnataka, and Maharashtra—have filed special leave applications in the highest court.
Sources claim that the subject has been scheduled for hearing in Court No. 1 on January 23.
After nearly nine months, the case was finally heard by the Supreme Court in November. But without hearing, it was scheduled for January.
As instructed at the last hearing, which took place in February of last year, the three States have submitted more written arguments to the Court. The case was previously heard in July 2023.
Additionally, the Court requested that the three neighboring States choose a nodal counsel to bookmark the convenience compilations and do so throughout the arguments.
The court has received Special Leave Petitions from the three states of Goa, Karnataka, and Maharashtra contesting the August 2018 award of the Mhadei Distribute Tribunal.
