The aggrieved parents on Tuesday assembled before the Manovikas School, Margao a day after the school allegedly refused to conduct online classes for students who could not pay fees.
The parents said that they had gathered today since school has suspended online classes of students whose parents have not been able to pay school fees as they are affected by the pandamic situation.
“Even after Supreme Court order and Department of Education’s instructions that no school can disable online classes, this school has been so heartless in taking this extreme step,” the parents said.
They demanded urgent intervention of the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and Director Education into this issue.
“We want the CM and DoE to save future of our Goan kids,” the parents demanded.
Parents taking to social media said that many have been suffering financial trauma due to ongoing pandemic situation.
“School is charging developmental fees as part of total fees. which is for construction of their new building structure, development fees turns to be 15% of total annual fee,” they said.
They said the parents only demand has been to remove the developmental and activity fee at this current times, which they have paid all these years without complain.
“Now due to financial crisis they have been pleading to reduce fees and not charge development and activity fees, but school haven’t budged, infact have now suspended online classes… Students are suffering, Parents are in critical situation due to schools relentless pressure on fee payment,” they said.
