PANAJI: The Directorate of Education has declared November 28 a holiday for all schools in the Canacona region due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Goa.
An official circular issued by Director of Education Shailesh Zingade states that the decision was taken at a meeting led by the Chief Secretary, keeping in mind the heavy security deployment, traffic controls and other arrangements required for VVIP movement in the area.
As per the order, all government, aided and private primary, secondary, higher secondary and special schools in and around Canacona will stay closed for both students and staff on Friday. Institutions have also been instructed not to hold exams, academic programmes or any school-related events on the day.
Modi is expected to unveil a 77-foot bronze statue of Lord Ram and launch a 3D projection mapping installation as part of the Shardha Panchashatamahotsava celebrations commemorating 550 years of the Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math in Canacona.
