Panaji: The Directorate of Education, Goa has instructed schools across the state to conduct limited classroom hours in April for students of Classes 6 to 10 and Class 12 as part of the academic calendar for 2026–27.
According to a circular issued by Director Shailesh Zingde, the new academic year for these classes will begin on April 1. However, schools have been directed to limit daily teaching hours to a maximum of three and a half hours during the month.
The department has also outlined schedules for examinations and results for the current academic year. Students of Classes 5 to 9 will be given a break from March 13 to March 30, while schools must declare the annual examination results for Classes 5 to 9 and Class 11 by March 31.
For primary sections, Classes 1 to 4 will continue regular classes until March 27. Their examinations will then be held between March 30 and April 2.
The results for students up to Class 4 are scheduled to be announced on April 30, 2026.
The Directorate has directed heads of government, government-aided and recognised unaided schools to ensure that the guidelines are implemented promptly and without any procedural delays.
