PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that contract teachers will be hired in lieu of permanent instructors in schools with a minimum student-teacher ratio. In the event that fewer children are enrolled, contract teachers will be assigned.
“Teachers are sanctioned on a regular basis considering the student ratio in the school.” If there are four or five fewer pupils, the instructor is hired on a contract basis,” said Sawant
He further said that teachers will be assigned on a regular basis once the school satisfies the necessary student enrollment requirements.
“The school will not be qualified to hire a full-time teacher if we assign a teacher to a class with fewer pupils and those kids continue to decline in the next academic year,” said Sawant.
CM added that only schools that meet the requirements for the student-to-teacher ratio will receive regular teacher appointments; in the event that the student population is below the threshold, contract teachers will be assigned to the school.
