Verna: A 40-year-old man who was injured in a scooter accident at Verna earlier this week succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim.
Verna police received a wireless message from the Casualty Police at GMC Bambolim at around 9.54 am on December 25, 2025, informing that the patient, identified as Vishwanath Pednekar, a native of Maharashtra and presently residing behind the Collector’s Office in Margao, had expired.
Police enquiries revealed that the accident occurred on December 23, 2025, at around 9.35 pm, when the deceased was riding his Pleasure scooter from Sawantwadi towards Margao. Upon reaching near Marina School at Verna, he reportedly lost control of the scooter and collided with a parked Suzuki Access scooter, sustaining serious injuries.
He was initially shifted to the South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao, and was later referred to GMC Bambolim for advanced treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Verna police registered a motor vehicle accident case in connection with the incident. An inquest panchanama was conducted, and the body was sent for post-mortem examination. The police surgeon conducted the autopsy and certified the cause of death as craniocerebral damage associated with chest injuries due to blunt force impact.
The body was later handed over to the family members for final rites.
