Margao: Margao Town police have registered a case following a road accident involving two scooters at the Power House Circle roundabout on December 22, 2025, at around 9 am.
According to police, the accused rider, Divya Waglekar, a resident of Menezesbhat, Sao Jose de Areal, was travelling from Davorlim towards Margao on a Hero Pleasure scooter. Police stated that she halted her vehicle at the Power House Circle roundabout along with other vehicles to allow traffic from Rawanfond Junction to pass. However, while vehicles were still moving ahead, she allegedly proceeded suddenly towards Margao at high speed without due care and caution, endangering human life.
In the process, her scooter reportedly collided with a Suzuki Access scooter that was travelling from Rawanfond towards Arlem. The impact occurred on the right rear footrest of the Access scooter, causing its rider, Amifa Cardozo, a resident of Curpe, Paroda, Quepem, to lose control, veer off the road and hit the divider. The rider sustained injuries to her right leg.
Based on a complaint filed by HC-5290 Prasanna Prabhugaonkar, Margao Town Police Station registered FIR No. 116/2025 under Sections 281 and 125(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Further investigation is being carried out by HC-5290 Prasanna Prabhugaonkar of Margao Town Police Station.
