Colva: A scooter rider succumbed to injuries after a rent-a-cab car allegedly driven in a rash and negligent manner collided with his scooter near St Anthony Chapel at Benaulim on Monday afternoon.
According to Colva police, the accident occurred on March 3 at around 12:50 pm when a Swift rent-a-cab car driven by Prasanta Deka, a resident of Assam, was proceeding from Colva towards Varca with three occupants.
Police said that upon reaching near St Anthony Chapel at Benaulim, the car allegedly dashed against a Dio scooter whose rider was in the process of taking a U-turn.
Due to the impact, the scooter rider, identified as Remedious Pereira, a resident of Uttordoxi, Varca, fell onto the road and sustained injuries.
He was shifted for medical treatment to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Colva police have registered a case based on the complaint filed by ASI Suraj Gaonkar.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Manju Vantamuri of Colva Police Station.
