A serious road accident on National Highway 66 near Betul left a scooter rider injured after a rent-a-cab rammed into his vehicle. The mishap occurred when the cab, a Maruti Baleno, being driven by Aagam Jain from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, collided with a scooter near the ONGC petrol pump.
According to police reports, Jain was operating the vehicle recklessly and without a valid driving licence, posing a threat to public safety.
As the cab was traveling from Betul towards Canaguinim, the driver suddenly made a sharp right turn towards the petrol pump without signaling or taking necessary safety measures. In doing so, he hit the rear side of an Activa scooter moving in the same direction.
The scooter rider, identified as Gajanan Kumtekar from Canaguinim-Quepem, was thrown to the roadside and sustained serious injuries in the accident. Authorities have registered a case and are continuing their investigation into the incident.
