PONDA: A woman sustained grievous injuries after her scooter was hit by a car near the Borim Village Panchayat on Tuesday afternoon.
According to a police complaint filed by HC Ramdas Gawas of Ponda Police Station, the incident occurred on October 21, 2025, around 1 pm, when Suraj Naik, a resident of Shiroda, Ponda, allegedly drove his Alto car in a rash and negligent manner while proceeding from Ponda towards Borim.
Police said that on reaching near the Borim Panchayat, the driver entered the wrong lane and collided head-on with a Suzuki Access scooter, causing the rider, Santana Nifa Gomes of Tisk, Ponda, to fall and suffer grievous injuries.
An offence has been registered for rash and negligent driving, and further investigation is being conducted by HC Ramdas Gawas of Ponda Police Station.
