MAPUSA: Mapusa Police have registered a case of auto theft under Crime No. 105/2025, invoking Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, after a Yamaha Fascino scooter was reported stolen from Morod, Mapusa.
The complaint, lodged by Mr. Datta Dharma Arolkar, a resident of Morod, Bardez, stated that between the night of June 30 and the morning of July 1, 2025, his grey Yamaha Fascino scooter (Registration No. GA-03-X-2421), parked in an open area near his residence, was stolen by an unidentified person.
The two-wheeler, valued at ₹70,000, was a 2024 model with chassis number ME1SEK721R0023242 and engine number E33SE0547590.
Following investigations led by HC 5874 Nilesh Ghadi, police identified and arrested Jayanta Babulal Adhikary, 31, a native of Barrage, Farakka, Murshidabad (West Bengal), currently residing in Valshi, Bicholim, Goa, in connection with the theft.
The accused is being questioned, and further investigation is underway to determine whether he is linked to other auto thefts in the region.
