PANAJI: The Vehicle Scrap Mela organized by Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd. (KTCL) concluded on a high note today, receiving a tremendous response from bidders and generating significant revenue for the government.
Held as part of KTCL’s efforts to dispose of obsolete and unserviceable vehicles, the auction attracted more than 50 bidders competing for 110 vehicles, which were grouped into 42 lots.
The auction process resulted in a total revenue of Rs 1.24 crore for the state government.
According to KTCL officials, the event was conducted smoothly and transparently, in line with government regulations for asset disposal.
“We are encouraged by the enthusiastic participation, which highlights public interest in such organized auctions. This initiative not only helps us recover value from old assets but also supports the government’s goals of transparency and efficiency,” a senior official said.
The success of the mela has prompted KTCL to consider holding similar auctions in the future, as part of ongoing efforts to streamline its operations and optimize resource utilization.
The auction marks a significant step toward sustainable asset management and reflects a growing trend of public participation in government-organized scrap and surplus sales.
