VASCO: A youth from Cansaulim, a seaman by profession fell victim to a dating app blackmail scam and lost Rs. 1.35 crore.
The victim youth in his complaint stated that he was approached by accused individuals, purportedly led by Zeeta Fernandes, a native of Karnataka, through a dating application called ‘Chat Karo.’
The victim initiated a video call which the accused girl recorded and later blackmailed him & threatened to release the naked video online. Under duress, the victim said that he transferred a total of Rs 1.35 crore through various transactions into different bank accounts provided by the accused parties. Verna police booked Zeeta, Mary Fernandes and Shankar Jadhav, all natives of Karnataka, who have been implicated in the alleged extortion.

Verna police have registered a case under section 420,384 read with 34 IPC and are carrying out further investigation.
